MEN’S BASKETBALL PULLS OUT BIG WIN OVER CANADORE
Brandon Seevaratnam and the Grizzlies pulled out a big 87-84 victory over the Canadore Panthers on Friday night at the Athletic Centre.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team hosted the Canadore Panthers on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
It was a huge bounce back game for the Grizzlies.
After trailing by three points at halftime the Grizzlies came back stronger putting up a big third quarter led by Tyler Vanessen (Whitby) who had 12 of his game-high 31 points in the game's third frame alone.
It came down to the wire but the Grizzlies were able to hold on for an impressive 87-84 victory.
Vanessen shot 65% on his field goals as part of his double-double performance along with 12 rebounds.
Georgian teammate Daniel Martyn (Barrie) had yet another strong performance matching a season-high with 17 points while Anthony Meggo (Whitby) had 16 points.
The win puts the Grizzlies back to .500 with a 2-2 record on the season.
Next up for Georgian is a road game Tuesday night when they travel to take on the George Brown Huskies.
The Grizzlies will continue their busy week next Thursday, Nov. 8 when they play their next home game against the Centennial Colts.
Tip-off for the men's game is scheduled for 8 p.m. following the women's game at 6 p.m. Tickets for the game are available at the door for $5.
