MEN'S BASKETBALL BATTLE HARD AGAINST FIRST PLACE HUSKIES
Johnathan Edwards had 10 points as the Grizzlies fell in a tight match 70-62 to the first place George Brown Huskies on Wednesday.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team travelled to face the top team in the OCAA east division standings in the George Brown Huskies on Wednesday night in Toronto.
The Grizzlies pushed hard on the Huskies all night with little separating the two teams in a strong battle.
It came down to just a few baskets and the Huskies got the edge taking the match 70-62.
The Grizzlies scored over half of their points from outside the perimeter led by Connor Laronde (Barrie) who had four three-pointers and led the team in scoring with 26 points.
Johnathan Edwards (Brampton) also hit double-digits in scoring with 10 points.
The loss puts the Grizzlies at 10-8 for the season as they sit in fifth place in the OCAA east division standings, one win ahead of the St. Lawrence Vikings.
The Grizzlies will play their final home game of the regular season when they host the Vikings in a big match with playoff implications on Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre. The men's game tips-off at 3 p.m. with tickets available at the door for $5.
Prior to the game there will be a special ceremony recognizing Georgian's graduating student-athletes.
