The Georgian Grizzlies men's team travelled to Ottawa on Friday to face the Algonquin Thunder.
Georgian battled hard in what was nearly an incredible comeback for the Grizzlies.
Georgian rallied to erase a double-digit Thunder lead with a few minutes remaining in the game. The teams then went back and forth but it was the Thunder who were able to hold on for a 73-72 victory.
Connor Laronde (Barrie) got red-hot in the game scoring a team high 25 points while also leading the team with six rebounds. Daniel Martyn (Barrie) was also solid with 12 points.
The Grizzlies will be back at it Saturday afternoon when they face the La Cite Coytoes at 1 p.m.
Georgian's next home game will be against the Canadore Panthers this coming Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre. Tickets are available for $5 at the door.
