The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team played their first regular season home game of the second half of their OCAA season on Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie, ON.
Facing the Fleming Knights, the Grizzlies put together an incredible team performance from top to bottom leading to an impressive 92-62 win.
The 30-point spread was Georgian's largest margin of victory this season.
Veterans Tyler Vanessen (Whitby) and Anthony Meggo (Whitby) shared the team lead in points with 15 points each.
David Marshall (Alliston) was a spark plug once again for the Grizzlies scoring a season high 12 points. The 5-foot-5 guard also matched a team high with six rebounds in the game while also causing numerous turnovers.
Carter Dunlop (Manitowaning) continued to be solid off the bench since returning to the Grizzlies this month scoring 12 points and adding six rebounds. Everyone on the roster contributed to Georgian's total with points in the game.
It was the Grizzlies first win of the New Year and the team improved their record to 7-5 on the season. They currently sit in a tie for fourth place in the OCAA east division standings along with their rivals the Durham Lords.
The Grizzlies will now head out on a two-game road trip to Ottawa starting next Friday night when the team takes on the Algonquin Thunder. They will then play in back-to-back days when they face the La Cite Coyotes on Saturday. Georgian will be looking to complete a season sweep versus both teams.
Georgian's next home game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 3 when they host the Canadore Panthers at the Georgian Athletic Centre. Tip-off will be at 1 p.m. with tickets available at the door for $5.
