WALLWIN & WOMEN’S TEAM WIN BRONZE AT NATIONALS
Addison Wallwin wins a medal at nationals for the second straight year while her and Emilie Tyndall won a team bronze medal.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's golf teams wrapped up their season with the fourth and final round of the 2017 PING CCAA Golf National Championships on Friday at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club in Oshawa, ON.
Georgian's women's team will be heading home with some more hardware.
Addison Wallwin (Barrie) had an incredible final round shooting a 3-over round of 75 to finish in third place overall and win the individual bronze medal.
In doing so she becomes just the second women's golfer in Georgian history to repeat as a national medalist after she won gold in last year's event
Teammate Emilie Tyndall (Kirkland, QC) had another solid round on the final day shooting an 82 as she finished seventh overall, just six strokes back of Wallwin.
The incredible combined performance from the women's team landed them a bronze medal with a four round total score of 656.
This is the third straight time Georgian's women's team has won a medal at the national championship. They won gold last year on Prince Edward Island and a bronze in British Columbia in 2015.
On the men's side Matt Lemay (Waterloo) had his best round of the tournament shooting an even round of 72. He finished the tournament tied for ninth overall at 16-over-par.
Brady Zordan (Midhurst) got better every round of the championship finishing with a final round of 73 to finish in 12th overall.
Jeff Ash (Barrie) had a solid final round of 75 to finish tied for 41st, Jonah Vidito (Kentville) finished tied for 52nd and Josh Lynch (Burlington) finished in 57th.
As a group, the Grizzlies posted the second best score overall for the round and climbed up to seventh overall in the men's team standings to finish the tournament.
