GRIZZLIES GOLF TEAMS STRONG THROUGH TWO ROUNDS AT NATIONALS
Matt Lemay finished round two posting a solid 74 and he moved up to a tie for 10th overall.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's golf teams played their second rounds of the 2017 PING CCAA Golf National Championships on Wednesday at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club in Oshawa, ON.
Georgian's Matt Lemay (Waterloo) had a solid round, among the top scores of the day with a round of 74 to finish 2-over. He moves up in the men's standings to a tie for 10th place sitting 10-over through two rounds.
Brady Zordan (Midhurst) had a five stroke improvement in the second round and he now sits in a tie for 21st overall at 13-over par. Jeff Ash (Barrie) is tied for 41st, Jonah Vidito (Kentville) is tied for 47th and Josh Lynch (Burlington) is in 57th place.
The men's team was able to improve their positioning in the standings by one spot to move up to eighth with a combined score of 646.
On the women's side the defending champs from Georgian continue to be in a medal position midway through the tournament.
Last year's individual national champion Addison Wallwin (Barrie) posted a round of 81 on the day and she currently sits in a tie for fourth overall, just four strokes behind the clubhouse leader.
Teammate Emilie Tyndall (Kirkland, QC) was one of just four women's golfers to finish Wednesday's round in the 70's as she posted a 79. She sits in sixth place and is just five strokes back of the leader.
The women's team continues to sit in second place with a combined score of 331. They are 11 strokes behind the leaders from the University of the Fraser Valley and are seven strokes ahead of the third place Humber Hawks team.
Georgian will play the third of four rounds at the PING CCAA Golf National Championships on Thursday, before the 72 hole event wraps up on Friday.
