GRIZZLIES GOLFERS ON TOP AT LAKEHEAD INVITATIONAL
Tyler Hale was the third different Georgian golfer to finish in first at an OCAA Invitational this year after a round of 69 on Friday.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's golf teams continued their great success as they played their second tournament in as many days on Friday at the Lakehead-Orillia Invitational.
For the third straight tournament a Georgian Grizzlies male golfer was on top of the leaderboard. This time it was Tyler Hale (Burlington) who finished in a tie for first with a round of 69.
At each of the first three OCAA tournaments held this year a different Georgian men's golfer has finished in first, showcasing their tremendous depth.
That depth was also on display as Georgian had six golfers finish in the top ten at the event with Brady Zordan (Midhurst) shooting a round of 70 while Jeff Ash (Barrie), Alex Cropley (Strathroy), Marcus Roth (New Hamburg) and Jonah Vidito (Kentville) all shooting rounds of 72.
Georgian's two men's teams incredibly finished first and second at the tournament.
On the women's side Georgian's Addison Wallwin (Barrie) and Emilie Tyndall (Kirkland, QC) led the team to a first place finish, six strokes up on the second place Humber Hawks.
Wallwin and Tyndall had matching rounds of 74, finishing in a tie for second place in the individual competition, just one stroke back of Humber's Sheila McKeen who won for the second straight day.
The Grizzlies are back in action on Monday, Sept. 25 when they travel to compete in the Niagara College Invitational hosted at the Grand Niagara Golf Club in Thorold, ON.
This will mark the final invitational tune-up for Georgian's team prior to the 2017 OCAA Golf Championship which will be held Oct. 2-4 in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
