BADMINTON TEAM LOOKS STRONG AS THEY WRAP INVITATIONAL PLAY
Eric Kern and the Grizzlies badminton team looked good as they played in their final tournament prior to the OCAA Regionals this weekend.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's badminton team travelled to compete in the Saints Badminton Open hosted by St. Clair College this past weekend in Windsor, ON.
Last year's OCAA bronze medal winning men's double team of Eric Kern (Desparats) and Ethan Zhao (China) partnered once again and had a good run at the event making it all the way to the quarter-finals before being knocked out by the team of Ayubu Touray and Jonathan Young from Humber College.
Michelle Kozlowskyj (Garson) continued her strong season as well for the Grizzlies.
She had an excellent run in the women's singles division earning a spot in the quarter-finals before losing a tight match to Riley Hogan (21-16, 21-15) from Fanshawe College in the semis.
Kozlowskyj also partnered with club player Victoria Duong and the duo went all the way to the semi-finals of the women's doubles competition losing to the eventual tournament winners of Crystal Qu and Chloe Rowe from Humber College.
The Grizzlies will now switch their attention to the OCAA East Regionals which take place Feb. 2 & 3 hosted by Centennial College in Toronto, ON. The event will determine who will move onto the OCAA Championships which take place Feb. 16-17 at Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON.
