HAYNES, TYNDALL & WALLWIN NAMED CCAA ACADEMIC ALL-CANADIANS
Darien Haynes (Volleyball), Emilie Tyndall (Golf) and Addison Wallwin (Golf) were recognized for their outstanding year's
Georgian Grizzlies student-athletes Darien Haynes, Emilie Tyndall and Addison Wallwin have been named 2016-17 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Academic All-Canadians.
The CCAA Academic All-Canadian award is the CCAA's most prestigious student-athlete honour, which focuses on the commitment to academic success and athletic achievement.
Haynes, a men's volleyball player, finished second on his team and tied for 17th in the OCAA with 205 points this season. The Barrie, ON native also led the entire OCAA in blocks with 61 while helping lead the Grizzlies to an undefeated 18-0 regular season and OCAA East Division Championship.
He exceled in the classroom as well, as he currently carries an 85% average in the Bachelor of Human Services (Police Studies) program.
Tyndall helped lead the Grizzlies women's golf team to a gold medal winning performances at both the OCAA and CCAA National Championships. The Montreal, PQ native was also a member of the OCAA All-Ontario Team.
She has an average of 88.6% in the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Golf Management) program.
Wallwin was also a member of the women's golf team which won gold at both provincially and nationally. She won the individual gold medal at the PING CCAA Golf National Championships and won silver at the OCAA Championships. She was also recognized as a CCAA All-Canadian and a member of the OCAA All-Ontario Team.
The Barrie, ON native is in the Business Administration - Accounting program where she has a 91.6% average.
The trio of student-athletes will be recognized for their tremendous accomplishments in front of their peers on Thursday night as part of the 47th Annual Varsity Athletic Awards Banquet at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
